The curling season finally got under way at Kinross Curling Club tonight. The first round of Rankine Cup matches is this week and got off to a start with David Beveridge (defending champion) up against Bruce Robbie. The ice was keen and swingy and the first few slides of the curlers looked a bit swingy as well! Only one sweeper allowed under the Covid safe rules so light deliveries struggled to make the hog. Early exchanges of big scores over the first two ends saw Bev take an early lead. However Bruce’s rink found their early season form and ran out comfortable winners. It was great to be back on the ice and once you get used to the one way system and on ice rules it all feels familiar. Fingers crossed we get a full season without any more restrictions.
Return to curling – the same but different…
